As a photographer, the lens you use is very important almost as important as location. I shoot both outdoor and studio so the lens needs to be versatile. I love low light setting so I tend to prefer a prime lens (fixed focal length, non zoom). In low light the lower the aperture, the better.

For the close up shots I like use the 85mm 1.8 (Amazon) I like this lens because its sharp and fast. With this lens you do not have to be so close to the subject, which in boudoir photography you want to give your client as much space as possible.

For the wider shots I use the 50mm 1.8 (Amazon). This lens allows you to capture your subject with more background and is just as sharp and fast. Perfect for shots like this one that are more environmental. This beach in Ventura, CA was perfect to shoot a little wider. Can't beat sunset on the beach
