My clients often tell me they need help posing because they feel stiff and unnatural during photoshoots. Does this sound like you? No worries, I got you! I want you to feel natural and confident so that your photos look that way, too

RELAX

Take a deep breath. Getting your photo taken is stressful, I get that. The top reason photos look unnatural is you feel tense and uncomfortable and the camera captures that. Before your photoshoot get a goodnight sleep, listen to calming music; whatever it takes to show up awake and relaxed.

DON'T FORCE A SMILE

Sadly, I have seen this far too often. When you force a smile it looks like you are trying to hold in a fart; all you see is teeth and it looks fake. Instead think of a joke or happy memory. Can't think of anything on the spot? Just give a little smirk, and when you do smile, smile with your whole face, not just your teeth.

PRACTICE IN THE MIRROR

Get to know what you like by trying a few poses in the mirror prior to your shoot. It can be a real game changer when you know what angles you like and what poses look flattering to you.

HAVE A PROP

This could be anything; something as simple as your sunglasses or buttons on your shirt, something to interact with and distract you for a moment so you start to relax a bit.

CONNECT WITH your PHOTOGRAPHER

It's awkward for photographers too. Striking up a convo and finding something in common is a great way to make it comfortable for both parties. Connection is what makes the photograph great - it takes both parties working together to make a good portrait.
